Certified Rabies Vaccinator (CRV) Training
For any person(s) who want to become Certified Rabies Vaccinators (CRVs) there are several steps involved in this process:
- All CRV candidates must be recommended by their local Health Director in writing to the Veterinary Public Health Office (VPH) regardless of the agency they actually may report to. CRVs are employees of Animal Control, Animal Shelters, Humane Societies among others. In their practicing role as CRVs, they generally would not be employees at a private veterinary practice under the direct supervision of a Veterinarian.
- All CRV candidates must print, complete, sign and return by fax or scan to VPH the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a valid email of the candidate.
- All CRV candidates must take a webinar and pass a posttest from the webinar that is hosted by Wake AHEC. This webinar is not open to the public and is by approval from VPH only. There is a nominal cost per person for this service from Wake AHEC. Please provide an email and reference as to who is providing the funds for training.
- The CRV candidate must also complete hands on training with a local Veterinarian for animal handling and complete the Vaccination Administration Training (VAT) Checklist Form. This form MUST be signed off by the Veterinarian AND also by the Health Director and then fax or scan the COMPLETED VAT form to the VPH Office.
