N.C. Communicable Disease Reports
All individually identifying information reported to the Division of Public Health is confidential and protected by law. Surveillance information is shared routinely and voluntarily with the CDC and public health partners and practitioners throughout the state in a manner compliant with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). North Carolina is committed to promoting interoperability and the meaningful use of electronic disease surveillance data , including contributing to the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) and WONDER database of case counts of nationally notifiable communicable diseases.
These reports include general communicable diseases reportable by law in North Carolina. See North Carolina administrative code ( 10A NCAC 41A .0101 ) for the current list of reportable diseases. If a disease is not listed, it means that case counts were either zero or extremely low for the time period.
